Don't look now, but the fourth quarter earnings season starts tomorrow when Alcoa (AA) reports after the close. But things don't really pick up until the week of the 22nd through the 25th. Only 28 companies report over the next four days, and only 87 companies report next week. Following the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 21st, we get 59 reports on the 22nd, 87 reports on the 23rd, and 140 reports on the 24th. The peak day for earnings reports this season doesn't come until February 7th when 192 companies will release their Q4 numbers.
For those interested in tracking upcoming earnings reports, over at Bespoke Premium, we offer an Interactive Earnings Season Calendar (sample below) that members use religiously. The calendar is unique in that it not only highlights the expected report dates, time of day and current EPS estimates for all of the companies set to report over the next month, but it also provides historical earnings report data for each stock. For each stock in the calendar, we show its historical earnings and revenue beat rate, its historical guidance patterns, and finally, how the stock has historically traded in reaction to its reports.
To check out the calendar and see if it's something for you, below is an abbreviated version of a prior quarter's file. To access the full calendar for the upcoming earnings season, become a Bespoke Premium member today.
