Italy Outperforming Canada -- Who Knew?

Don't look now, but Italy's stock market is outperforming Canada's on a year-to-date basis.  As of this afternoon, Canada's TSX index is down 2 basis points so far in 2012, while Italy's FTSE MIB index is up 7 basis points.  Adjusted for changes in currencies, Canada's market is still outperforming, but still, who would have thought that Italy, which has been close to ground zero of the euro crisis, would be performing inline with Canada this year?
