Happy Veterans Day

With Veterans Day (11/11) falling on a Sunday this year, the holiday will formally be observed today.  Going back to 1980, the S&P 500 has averaged a gain of 0.09% on Veterans Day with positive returns 59.4% of the time, so it hasn't been the best day of trading for the bulls.  Interestingly, from 1980 through 1992, Veterans Day was very positive as the S&P 500 averaged a gain of 0.60% with positive returns 85% of the time.  Since then, however, the S&P 500 has averaged a decline of 0.26% with positive returns only 42% of the time.
