Global Long Term Treasury Rates
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:53AM In the charts below we highlight the ten-year government interest rates for some of the major global regions. Interestingly, the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK all have similar government borrowing costs. Canada currently has the lowest 10-year borrowing cost of the four with a rate of 3.25%, while ten-year borrowing costs for the UK are highest at 3.57%.

Outside of the four regions cited above, borrowing costs for Australia and Japan vary considerably. In Australia, where the economy is booming thanks to rising commodity prices, ten-year interest rates are currently at 5.46%. In Japan, on the other hand, long-term interest rates are a paltry 1.22%, which remain the lowest of the developed world.
