What Has Been Moving Shares Lower?

The average stock in the S&P 500 is down 3.68% since last Friday.  Since we haven’t seen a pullback like this in some time, we ran our decile analysis on the index to see which stock characteristics are pushing shares lower.  To run the analysis, we broke the S&P into 10 groups of 50 stocks based on things like market cap, valuations, short interest, etc., and then calculated the average performance of the stocks in each decile since last Friday.

Out of all characteristics, the decile that has done the worst is the one containing the 50 stocks...
