Earnings and Revenue Beat Rates

With nearly 1,500 stocks having reported since earnings season started on October 11th, the current earnings beat rate stands at 64.5%.  (This is the percentage of companies that have beaten consensus earnings estimates.)  As shown below, the reading for this earnings season is well above the readings seen over the past two earnings seasons, which is a good sign.

On the other hand, the top line revenue beat rate this earnings season is at its lowest level (62%) since the bull market started back in March 2009.
