Dow 30 Trading Range Screen

The Dow is currently about 3% above its 50-day moving average, and it's also up a little more than 3% year to date.  Below we highlight our trading range screen of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow.  For each stock, we highlight where it is currently trading within its historical trading range along with where it was a week ago.  We also provide each stock's year-to-date change.

Nineteen of the 30 Dow stocks are currently trading in overbought territory while none are oversold.  All but 5 of the stocks in the index are above their 50-day moving averages.  Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Intel (INTC), and Cisco (CSCO) -- all Tech stocks -- are closest to oversold territory, although they're moving in the right direction.  Boeing (BA) and Bank of America (BAC) are the two other names below their 50-days.  Travelers (TRV) is the most overbought stock in the Dow at the moment, with Home Depot (HD), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Kraft Foods (KFT), and Wal-Mart (WMT) not far behind.  These are all big companies with heavy reliance on the consumer.

In terms of year-to-date performance, Alcoa (AA) remains the worst performer so far in 2010 with a decline of 29.53%.  Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) is the only other name down more than 20%.  Three Dow stocks are up more than 20% year to date -- du Pont (DD), Caterpillar (CAT), and McDonalds (MCD).
