Homebuilders Break Below 50-DMA As Mortgage Rates Move Higher

After trading nicely above its 50-day moving average since December, the S&P 1500 Homebuilder group broke solidly below its 50-day today. At the same time, the average national 30-year fixed mortgage rate broke out of a key long-term downtrend. Based on the technicals over the last six months, mortgage rates appear to have made a bottom.
