Guidance Remains Strong

Of the 575 companies that have released earnings reports this season, only 12 of them (or 2.1%) have lowered guidance.  On the other hand, 63 (11%) have raised guidance.  Over the last four quarters, the percentage of companies raising guidance has eclipsed the percentage lowering guidance, but the spread between the two so far this quarter is the widest of them all.  Since at least 2002, there hasn't been another four-quarter period where positive guidance outnumbered lowered guidance.
