NAHB Housing Market Index Stronger Than Expected

Today's release of the NAHB housing market index showed a rise from 15 to 19 in April, which was three points stronger than expected.  Coincidentally, the last time this sentiment index beat expectations by at least three points was one year ago today on April 15th, 2009.  The number was four points better than expected (14 vs. 10) in that report.  As shown below, the index is once again approaching resistance at the 20 level as it has done two other times since first breaking below 20 back in 2007.  Will the third time be the charm?
