Country Stock Market Performance Since March 9th, 2009 and October 9th, 2007
Monday, March 8, 2010 at 05:58PM Tomorrow is the one-year anniversary of the S&P 500's bear market closing low. Below we highlight the performance of stock markets in 81 countries around the world since the March 9th low. Peter Schiff said on CNBC's "Fast Money" show this evening that the US has underperformed the rest of the world during the rally, but that is not the case. As shown, the US has been the second-best performing G-7 country since March 9th, and it's the 33rd best performing country overall. The Ukraine, Romania, and Russia rank first, second, and third with gains of 278%, 182%, and 162% respectively. Of the BRIC countries, Russia is up the most, while China is up the least.
