Today's Sector Performance

Today the market is experiencing its first somewhat significant decline in what seems like forever (if you want to call down 66 basis points somewhat significant).  For those interested, below we highlight the performance of the ten S&P 500 sectors as of 1 PM ET.  We also highlight the performance of each sector during the most recent charge higher from 2/8 to 3/18.  As shown, Energy -- which isn't one of the sectors that rallied the most during the run-up -- is down the most today at -1.41%.  Technology is the only other sector down more than 1% today.  Financials, Consumer Discretionary, and Industrials were the three best performing sectors from 2/8 to 3/18, but they are down by just about the same amount as the overall S&P 500 today.  The defensive sectors (Utilities, Consumer Staples, Health Care, and Telecom) are down the least today.
