Stock Performance Since 2/8 Low
Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 06:28AM Since the market's most recent closing low on February 8th, the Russell 3000 is up just under 4.5%. On an unweighted basis, the average stock in the index is up 6.3%, so small cap stocks have been leading throughout this bounce. Below we highlight the average stock performance by sector. Commodity related stocks have seen the greatest strength as Energy and Materials are the top two performing sectors, while Utilities have lagged.

But this advance has been a tide that has lifted practically all boats. Since 2/8, 92.2% of the stocks in the Russell 3000 have risen, and of those 34 are up more than 25%. On the downside, only nine stocks have declined by more than 10%, led by YRC Worldwide (YRCW), which is down over 50% and has been in a perpetual downtrend for the better part of five years.
