Highest Chicago PMI Since 1988

Today's release of the Chicago PMI not only came in stronger than expected but was at its highest level since the Summer of 1988, and this report came less than two hours after initial jobless claims hit their lowest levels in nearly two and a half years.  Maybe they are just all on vacation, but the usual purveyors of economic doom and gloom seem awfully quiet today.
