Looking For Action? S&P 1500 Most Volatile Stocks

For traders with a more short-term time horizon, we have compiled a list of the S&P 1500 stocks that have the largest intraday high-low ranges (based on the average percent spread between the intraday high and low over the last fifty days).  We then grouped the stocks based on whether they have a rising or falling 50-day moving average.  Stocks highlighted in gray are new to the list this month.

While equities are in the midst of what is now a mini-correction, the list of most volatile stocks is still dominated by names with rising 50-day moving averages.  Once again this month, Financials and Consumer Discretionary stocks are the most heavily represented sectors.  This month's list of volatile stocks contains only five with price ranges in the double digits, but one of them (AIG) is also the second most volatile stock in the entire index with an average intraday range of over 12%.
